Digital Mammography with Computer-Aided Detection

With Digital Mammography, images are immediately available, and can be electronically manipulated, allowing the physician to magnify different parts of the breast tissue without obtaining additional images. Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) makes mammography an even more powerful tool, as the computer evaluates each view of the mammogram to scan for areas that may be troublesome and should receive closer attention. As a result, studies have shown that CAD detects early malignancies 10 to 20% more often than unaided methods. That is a huge advantage in the fight against breast cancer.
