Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine uses very small amounts of radioactive tracers, or medications, to diagnose and sometimes treat diseases. These tracers emit small amounts of radiation from your body for a limited time after the tracer has been introduced into the body. A specialized nuclear camera detects the radiation and produces images of the body part being studied.

Unlike other diagnostic tests, nuclear medicine examines the function of the organ, tissue or bone rather than its structural appearance. Scans provided by Sitron-Hammel include:
