Our Services > Ultrasonography Ultrasonography Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to obtain a medical image of various organs and tissues in the body. The safe and painless procedure produces very precise images of soft tissue, and even reveals internal motion such as heart beat and blood flow. It can detect and identify a wide variety of changing conditions, including fetal development, which enables our physicians to make a quick and accurate diagnosis. Although it is most often associated with fetal examinations, ultrasound is being used increasingly as a fast, multipurpose diagnostic tool. For example, it can reveal diseased or damaged tissues, locate abnormal growths and quickly produce very precise images of soft tissue such as the heart, blood vessels, uterus, bladder, liver and other organs. All Sitron-Hammel sonographers are highly skilled and educated and work under the close supervision of our radiologists.
